Our trip to Hunza and Naltar valley has been a great adventure tour for many years. The much renowned Hunza valley is often referred to as heaven on earth, enveloped in the grand Himalayas and the Karakoram mountain ranges,
The Hunza valley is situated at an elevation of 2,438 meters (7,999 feet). Geographically, Hunza consists of three regions, Upper Hunza (Gojal), Central Hunza and Lower Hunza (“Shinaki”).
Attabad Lake is about half an hour east of Karimabad, the capital of the Hunza District in the Gilgit-Baltistan province of Pakistan (Karimabad, incidentally, was named one of the five “Best Tourist Sites” in Pakistan by The Guardian). The lake’s chilly waters are a stunning turquoise in spring and early summer, when meltwater from the surrounding mountains deposits glacial silt into the lake. In winter, the lake typically freezes over.
Khunjerab Pass is a 4,693-meter high mountain pass in the Karakoram Mountains, in a strategic position on the northern border of Pakistan (Gilgit–Baltistan’s Hunza and on the southwest border of China (Xinjiang).
An isolated haven of sheer beauty, Naltar Valley lies tucked away from the hustle bustle of Gilgit-Baltistan’s town and cities. Nestled among snow-topped peaks and towering forests, the valley is home to what are referred to as the tastiest potatoes in the world.
