Chilam Joshi Festival, also known as Chilimjusht, Chilim Jhust and Kalash spring festival is a calendar festival in Kalash celebrates in May 13 to 16 each to honor and praise their God. The Kalasha People welcome the spring season with gratitude and in hope of blessings from the God. This festival is most popular tourism attraction, tourists from around the world gather after scheduling their travel dates according to the festival.
During the Chilam Joshi Festival, the community and the elders emphasize the most on purity of the people so when the Balomain visit the valley the Kalasha followers must have a pure mind. People take ritual baths a week prior to the festival. During the purification ceremony a men must not sit all day and later at night his face is sprinkled with the blood of a sacrificed goat. Men actively participate in the cooking during this festival. Men bake special bread and distribute it in the three valleys of Kalash.
The event is followed with singing and dancing during the festival. The young men and women dance together and find themselves spouses during this event. They announce the names of their partners at the end of the event. The festival continues for many more days moving on to different locations within the valleys.

Itineraries
Day 1
Our tour guide welcomes you at New Islamabad International Airport in Islamabad. Transfer to the hotel, In the evening sightseeing in Islamabad, Night stay in Islamabad.
Day 2
Fly to Chitral in PIA ATR flight. The flight is subject to weather and availability. If the flight operate, the rest of the day will be used for rest and sightseeing in Chitral town.
In case of no flight, we start our journey towards the Chitral Valley by road (9 t0 10 hrs). We will pass through Mardan, Malakand, Bathkhela, Dir and enter Chitral through Lowari Tunnel. In Chitral district we will pass through Nagar Fort and Ayun Valley to reach Chitral town, Night stay in Chitral.
Day 3
Drive to Bumburet Valley of Kalash where Kalasha’s are busy for the Chilam Joshi festival. Walk around the valley to experience the Kalasha’s life style and see the settlement in Bumburet Valley.
Day 4-8
In the next few days you will have chance to go around with our local guide to experience the festivities of the Chilam Joshi. This will include a taste of the local cuisine, visits to local Kalasha homes and enjoy dance of Kalasha people during the festival. The group will also visit other valleys of Kalash – Rumbur and Birir. The night events will continue with bonfires and traditional dances, our guests can also participate with them in dancing and cooking of local Kalasha food. Night stay in Tent.
Day 9
Drive back to Chitral town through Ayun. In the evening explore the Chitral Town. Night stay in Chitral
Day 10
Fly to Islamabad or drive back in case of no flights, Sightseeing of Islamabad in the afternoon. In case of travelling by road (9 to 10 hrs), group will use the same route, Night stay in Islamabad.
Day 11
Transfer to the airport for their international flights back home.
